Zen practitioner and artist Maria Cerro will guide you through the practice of Zen meditation which will then be applied to making art. This is a creative way to learn and practice deep presence.

•  You will have daily meditation sessions supported by mindful movement like body activation and stretching.

• You will Create art objects as a meditation and contribute to a collective art installation.

• You will take a meditation ring home with you to inspire continued presence.

• You will also bring home practical tools which will long outlive your retreat experience at beautiful Pura Vida.

No previous art or meditation experience necessary… Beginners and advanced practitioners alike will find this journey helpful to quiet the busy mind and deepen their practice of presence. There will also be an optional mindful excursion and ample time to experience the nature and adventure opportunities that enchanting Costa Rica offers. While Zen developed in the context of Zen Buddhism, this is not a religious retreat, but a spiritual inward journey. This retreat will focus on traditional methods of Zen meditation like Zazen (sitting) and Kihnin (walking) as a tool to enter the stillness of the present moment and as a bridge to making art objects or “meditation rings” that will join together to create the art installation. This collective art piece will be the backdrop for a unique meditative experience, and the culmination of our retreat.

Packages range from $1595 – $2595 per week per person, depending on accommodation and occupancy, and include 6 nights’ accommodations, 3 healthy buffet style meals per day made with locally sourced ingredients, all retreat sessions, and ground transportation to and from San Jose International Airport.
