Energize Your Massage Practice at Pura Vida in Costa Rica
Join us at Pura Vida Retreat and Spa in Alajuela, Costa Rica from May 2-9, 2026 for an immersive massage therapy retreat designed to enhance your skills and knowledge. This exceptional massage education vacation experience combines expert instruction in the class path that you select, hands-on practice, and relaxation in a stunning setting.

Course Offerings

Study with some of our top instructors as you enhance your massage therapy expertise with our comprehensive curriculum. Choose from a variety of programs tailored to your professional goals:

• Medical Massage Practitioner Program: Master the art and science of medical massage. This is one of our most popular course offerings and includes the following clases: Day of the Back, Lower Extremity, Day of the Neck and Upper Extremity. Plus, as a bonus, you will receive the online Insurance Billing Home Study course. This in-depth program teaches you how to build a medical massage practice and enhance your existing skills to take clients out of pain.
• Manual Lymphatic Drainage Series: This important series includes both Fundamentals of Lymphatic Drainage and Advanced Lymphatic Drainage. You will gain a deep understanding of the lymphatic drainage system and master techniques to treat the entire body. You will be able to incorporate this skill into your regular massage routine as well as treat pre- and post-surgical clients.
• Myofascial Release Workshop: This two-part series will equip massage therapists with advanced training to effectively address fascial restrictions and alleviate chronic pain. Learn to adapt treatments for various client conditions.

Costa Rica Experience

The Pura Vida Retreat and Spa is a paradise, tucked away on the top of a mountain in Alajuela, Costa Rica. This is a wonderful retreat with fantastic energy. You will be able to select between several guest room accommodations to stay in. (See detailed accommodation descriptions below.)

Our classes take place at Pura Vida Retreat. Massage tables and sheets are provided. You don’t have to worry about bringing your own. The scenic views are unforgettable. You may get lost in the splendor of Costa Rica on your way to class.

Beyond the classroom, you may wish to partake in exceptional spa treatments at the Wellness Centre. You can also wander around and hide away on the property at one of the many relaxation areas. Unwind with daily yoga, or simply relax by the pool or jacuzzi. You deserve this vacation!

We highly recommend taking advantage of some of the Eco-Adventure opportunities offered at Pura Vida. You can immerse yourself in the wonders of Costa Rica. Explore lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and volcanic landscapes. Enjoy thrilling adventures like zip-lining, white-water rafting, and hiking.

• Enjoy comfortable accommodations (See the information box below for a detailed description of accommodations and pricing.)
• Delicious meals and soft drinks: You will enjoy three buffet-style meals a day at the dining hall. Meals include vegetarian, chicken, and fish-based dishes. Special Diets can be accommodated with advanced notice. Complimentary coffee, tea, and alkaline water are provided throughout the day.
• Convenient transportation: You will be shuttled to and from San Jose International Airport (Airport Code: SJO) at the start and end of this event.
• Amenities: As a guest at Pura Vida, you will have access to the pool and jacuzzi; morning yoga classes; and relaxation areas showcasing lush gardens.
• Not included in the package: You are also welcome to schedule exceptional spa services and take part in some amazing Eco-Adventures. In the dining hall, wine, beer, specialty juices, and elixirs are available for an additional charge. There is also a gift shop on the property. If you are happy with the service you receive from the staff, gratuities are always appreciated. Airfare is not included in this travel package.
