Hot Yoga 26 Extravaganza is open to everyone, from the beginner who has never even ever tried a Bikram Yoga class, to experienced practitioners and Bikram Yoga teachers. The series is 26 poses and two breathing exercises always done in the same sequence and timing, but every time it is different because the practitioner enters class with a different body, mindset and daily experience. The yoga series is designed to strengthen and open up the body; calm the mind and achieve a “Moving Meditation.” By practicing the same poses, iconic poses like Standing Head to Knee, Standing Bow-Pulling, Triangle, Camel and Rabbit, the practitioner becomes very adept at the 3 “B’s,” breathing, balancing and bending.

This is our home studio, YogaSol in Norwalk, Connecticut, 21st Annual Bikram Yoga/Hot Yoga 26 annual retreat. Nineteen have taken place at the Pura Vida Spa which is a very special retreat center because it has a beautiful hot yoga studio and it has a friendly tranquil and spiritual vibe. Many of our group hail from all over the United States, not only Connecticut but New York, Michigan, Florida, Minnesota and Colorado. A lot of them come back every year to celebrate the yoga, our friendships and natural exquisiteness of Costa Rica.

In addition to two Hot Yoga 26 classes a day, we do a mid-week Posture Clinic and beach trip to the Pacific Ocean at Jaco, we take hikes in the coffee plantation across the street from the Pura Vida Spa and some of us play tennis and pickleball at the local tennis club. The Wellness treatments at the Pura Vida Spa are wonderful and the solar-heated pool and hot tub are excellent ways to relax in between classes.

Anne Alleva is a retired music teacher who has been practicing yoga for decades and teaching yoga and meditation since 2015. She integrates breathwork, energy, and various transformational modalities to support mind-body awareness and individual growth. Passionate about empowering others, she helps clients cultivate balance, strength, and self-awareness through movement, mindfulness, and holistic practices.

Barbara Konicki is a passionate yoga and fitness teacher dedicated to helping others find strength and peace. She is also the Program Coordinator for the South Windsor Recreation Center. Barbara is an energetic and dedicated teacher, invested in inspiring and motivating each person to realize their potential. She is also an avid hiker and lover of the outdoors.
